Cruising Through Alaska with Celebrity

Although I’ve been in the travel business over 30 years and have visited many destinations around the world, I had never made it to Alaska.

Over the years, my clients would tell me how much they enjoyed the Alaskan vacation I planned for them, but it was not a destination at the top of my list. That changed as I recently had the opportunity to go on an Alaska cruise with my husband and absolutely loved it!

Alaska is truly a complex destination. Seeking out an agency like Classic Travel to help with ship, cabin, itinerary and shore excursions will greatly enhance your experience.

We sailed out of Seattle on the magnificent Celebrity Solstice cruise ship which has top of the line dining, entertainment, and all the amenities of a luxury vacation including their specialty restaurants, luxurious staterooms, Canyon Ranch SpaClub, and fitness center.

We sailed up along the Tracy Arm Fjord, our port visits included quaint towns of Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria in British Columbia.

We got to choose from a variety of popular excursions including a hike in the Tongass Rainforest in Ketchikan, a whale watching tour in Juneau, and a beautiful train ride up to Canada along the Yukon Gold Rush route.

Our last stop was in Victoria, British Columbia where we took a tour of the Butchart Gardens which is comprised of 55 acres of breathtaking floral gardens and waterfalls. Once back in Seattle, we spent two additional nights enjoying the sights of the vibrant city.

Looking back at the trip, while I loved all of the excursions and the quaint towns we visited, what surprised me the most was how relaxing it was just to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery while cruising on the boat, whether enjoying a drink while looking for whales or gazing at the floating icebergs and glaciers whose beauty can’t sufficiently be described and is appreciated only after experiencing it firsthand. Several times during the cruise, the thought kept coming to me, what took me so long to go to Alaska!

As I mentioned previously, Alaska is a complex destination and using the services from the travel consultants at Classic Travel to assist with ship selection, cabin location, itinerary, and shore excursions will greatly enhance your experience!
